| Criteria for Determining Eligibility |
To be eligible for the TRIO SSS Program, students must meet all of the following criteria:
- U.S. Citizen and/or Legal/Permanent Resident (for Citizenship requirements, click here: http://ifap.ed.gov/sfahandbooks/attachments/0304Vol1Ch2.pdf )
- Applied for financial aid
- Enrolled in at least 6 units
- Have an academic goal of graduating and/or transferring to a 4-year college
- Have a demonstrated Academic Need as determined by the TRIO/SSS Program (see Academic Need Criteria here ).
In addition, eligible students must meet at least one of the criteria below:
- First-generation college student (Neither parent has a bachelor's degree)
- Low income (based on Federal Income Guidelines)
(NOTE: Financial eligibility is determined through information on file at Skyline's Financial Aid Office. You must apply for financial aid to establish your financial eligibility.)
- Documented disability (learning or physical)
Skyline College 's TRIO/STAARS program can serve only 300 students each year, so program staff must select the most qualified students from all the eligible applicants. This selection will be made on the basis of students' ability to demonstrate that they can benefit from TRIO services and that they can reasonably expect to meet their goal of graduation and/or transfer within three years of entering the SSS Program. |
